Two out of two elections for County Commission will probably be closed to Democrats and independents this year. Only registered Republicans will be permitted to vote in the "universal primary" in which County Commission Chairman JOHN H. "JAY" MORRIS, JR. and RONALD SANCHEZ seek re-election. Shills have filed to run as write-ins in both races, closing the primary. Democrats have not run a candidate for a county-wide partisan race since 2006.
Our state election laws favor incumbents. Our local Democratic Party is inept.
