The "Anonymice" No Longer Abusing "Anonymity" to Blacklist, Torment Dissenters in St. Augustine, Florida

Olympia, Washington nuclear and environmental whistleblower Ed Bricker has "blown the whistle" in today's St. Augustine Record (see below).

Ed has publicly revealed the appalling manners of certain government officials and their entourages, who hide behind "anonymity" to post racist, sexist, homophobic smears on the "Talk of the Town" website, even falsely impersonating Ed Bricker's wife and making remarks about peoples' mothers, references to body parts, and other comments that would never make it in a family newspaper.

One particular bone of contention was archaeological issues, with Willett Albright Boyer, III, City Archaeologist Carl Halbirt's spouse (Clara Waldhari) and others tormenting good and decent people for years, simply because they felt that indigenous archaeological resources were not being adequately protected.

They say in academia that the politics are so mean because the stakes are so small.
Peter Guinta wrote in a book review in July (of the book "Tortoise Soup") that the smaller the town, the meaner the politics.

This ToTT subgroup was like a little terrorist cell, making up rumors about people and spreading them maliciously, while hiding behind "anonymity." That's why we call them the "anonymice."

Then-Mayor GEORGE GARDNER even made public reference to ToTT earlier this year at a City Commission meeting, saying that he no longer enjoyed it because I was posting there, raising issues he did not want to address.

The level of discourse on ToTT was variable depending upon the hour of the day (or night) and the identity of the posters. Some were scholarly. Some were scurrilous. Some were sometimes both. Some made repeated obscene posts (over 32 pages of anti-Gay posts associated with Bridge of Lions Rainbow flags, which apparently influenced our City Commissioners two votes on the issue in May/June 2005.

Now we know that ToTT is more a "mouse in the Mayor's pocket" than the voice of the people.

Many ladies would not post on ToTT because of the blatant sexism and obscenity.

Kudos to the St. Augustine Record for ridding ToTT of several hatemongerers.

If the St. Augustine Record alters or abolishes ToTT next year, we can blame the politicians who thought it funny to subject concerned citizens to opprobrium and obloquy -- even writing about the need to "run people out of town."

To the minority of ToTTers (including political apparatchiks with pornographic-potty-mouths): "Your sins have found you out."
