In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Here’s which House members voted for or against the Respect for Marriage Act. (WaPo, December 8, 2022)
U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-St. Augustine Beach), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y. and former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.), three reported President-elect Trump appointees, all supported Gay marriage rights, joining some 39 Republicans in voting for the Respect for Marriage Act. In sharp contrast to other pouting pachyderms still wishing to bash Gays and advance what Justice Scalia called Kulturkkampf (culture wars), these three DJT nominees voted to support Americans' constitutional and civil right to marry. From The Washington Post:
Here’s which House members voted for or against the Respect for Marriage Act
Updated Dec. 8 at 4:31 p.m.Originally published Dec. 8, 2022
The House on Thursday passed legislation that would federally protect same-sex marriages and interracial couples, voting 258 to 169 to clear the way for President Biden’s signature.
Thirty-nine House Republicans joined all Democrats in support of the Respect for Marriage Act. The Senate passed the bill in a bipartisan vote on Nov. 29, after including a bipartisan amendment to ease some Republicans’ concerns about religious liberty.
These lawmakers voted in support of the Respect for Marriage Act.
These lawmakers voted against the Respect for Marriage Act.
These lawmakers did not take a stance on the bill.
Mike Gallagher Wis.
"It is far better for Congress to pass legislation that protects religious organizations and provides stability to the millions of people in a same-sex marriage than to rely on federal judges to make these decisions," Gallagher said in a statement. He opposed the previous version of the bill with concerns it would allow for polygamy, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Read more »

Owens voted present on Dec. 8. He supported the previous version of the bill. “While today is undoubtedly a giant step toward religious liberty, my lone "present" vote signals a warning beacon that the war is far from won,” he said in a tweet. “Religious freedom cannot prevail until and unless individuals and small business owners practicing their sincere religious beliefs have explicit protection under the law.” Read more »

Every one of those opposed is pandering to an irrational mob with many of them engaged in the irrational ideology themselves. Religious rights are about practicing whatever nonsense not based in reality that one chooses. It has nothing to do with rights as a zero sum game, or having a monopoly on social institutions like marriage. Nobody is taking away someone's right to believe in absurdity just because they marry someone else that those believers in absurdity don't think they should be able to marry. What rights the religious people are really talking about is their "right to dictate" social institutions and behavior which does not exist unless they make their religion law... which in turn takes rights, freedoms, and liberties away from others so they can gain validity. I can think of other ways for such people to gain validity and credibility... but not many.
