Letter: Stop stealing Obama/Biden signs from yards

Editor: After several attempts to get myself an Obama/Biden yard sign at the Democratic Party headquarters I finally succeeded. They have happily been inundated with people wanting these signs as well as buttons, bumper stickers and T-shirts. I was delighted to finally purchase a sign, a button and a bumper stickers.
I proudly put the sign in my front yard where it stayed for about a week. On a recent morning to my dismay I came out of my home to see that the sign had been stolen. I would like to make a very salient point about this occurrence. Stealing a sign by coming onto my property is a misdemeanor.
I know I will never know who the person was who stole the sign, but I do know that it was unethical, cheap and as I have already mentioned, a misdemeanor. When I went to the Democratic headquarters later in the morning I was told by several volunteers that I was not the only one whose sign had been removed/stolen.
Can't people be more constructive? Don't they have better things to do than steal? I would like to believe that people can put out a political sign for whomever they support without the threat of losing it.
Now I intend to take the sign into the house every evening and then put it back out it the daylight hours.
