Come celebrate art and music and the return of civility and fun to St. George Street. August 20, 2014 6-8 PM at City Hall and Lightner Museum (Rain date: August 21). The Chamber of Commerce, WILLIAM BRUCE HARRISS, JOSEPH LESTER BOLES, JR., LEONARD CLAUDE WEEKS, JR., PAUL WILLIAMSON, ROBERT LESTER McLEOD, II a/k/a "MAC McLEOD, et al., and successive St. Augustine City Commissions passed unjust laws criminalizing music and art on St. George Street. They violated First Amendment rights. They falsely claimed to be about protecting public safety. Federal courts repeatedly overturned their works and pomps. The result of their two decades of wasted millions and meretricious efforts has been to destroy the goose that lays the golden eggs. St. George Street has become one dull, lifeless t-shirt shop, as Cathy Brown told the Visioning Committee. Come join us!
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
