Your partisan newspaper
Editor: Pardon me, but your extreme partisanship is showing!
First, you endorse a candidate for Mosquito control who appears to know virtually nothing about the office he aspires to (endorsed him over Jeanne Moeller who does her homework and is a font of information about mosquito control).
Then, for the U.S. House of Representatives you endorse the incumbent, Republican Ron DeSantis, who has wasted two years in Washington voting against anything that might possibly benefit his constituents, but voting for the government shutdown which helped no one and cost the taxpayers $24 billion. Your remarks about his opponent, David Cox, were snide and bordered on untruthful.
Then — perhaps most reprehensible — for State Senate District 6 you endorse the incumbent, Republican John Thrasher, when it’s clear he has no intention of serving in this position and knowing that if he wins, taxpayers will have to cough up over $1 million for a special election when he resigns the Senate to become President of FSU. By endorsing him, your newspaper is participating in this potential taxpayer ripoff and this is irresponsible. I hope the voters see through this sham and vote for Kathleen Trued or Greg Feldman for State Senate District 6.
St. Augustine
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
