ONLY $4000 STATE ETHICS FINE FOR COUNTY'S NEARLY $400,000 CONFLICT OF INTEREST? ONE PERCENT.

Who says "crime doesn't pay?"

St. Johss County Utilities SCADA Manager RICHARD NELSON allegedly sold St. Johns County some $400,000 in services and equipment.  Fired, but o criminal prosecution.  Now Florida's Ethics Commission just agred to a $4000 fine for a corrupt St. Johns County Utilities manager for his conflict of interst in violation of our Florida Constituition.

Here is Action News Jax report: https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local/st-johns-county/investigates-hundreds-thousands-dollars-public-money-went-county-employee-report-says/FQ3GHSTSKVAONOOD4YU4JLKNWA/

Here is the pertinent part of tbe Ethics Commission's October 26, 2022 press release

The Commission also adopted a settlement agreement between the Commission Advocate and RICHARD NELSON, former St. Johns County Utility Department Manager. The agreement finds Mr. Nelson violated the constitutional amendment prohibiting abuse of office to obtain a disproportionate benefit and that he misused his position when he misused his authority to ensure the County would make purchases from his private business, Technical Field Services, Inc. (TFS). The agreement also finds he had a prohibited business relationship arising from TFS doing business with the County and that his contract with TFS created a conflicting employment or contractual relationship. The Commission recommended a civil penalty of $4,000 be imposed by the Governor.

I have requested documents on this proposed settlement.

Footnote: MATT GAETZ's father is a member of the Florida Ethics Commission.

Will the Governor impose the recommended $4000 penalty for nearly $400,000 worth of boodling, theft, and unconstitutional conflicts of interest?

THIS IS A SLAP ON THE WRIST,.

Enough flummery, dupery and nincompoopery.

Enough corruption created, continued and tolerated by our poltroonish one-party Republican misrule by the wealthy here in Flori-DUH, with Dull Republican miscreants like MATT GAETZ and his father.

Footnote: some of my best friends are Republicans or recovering Republicans.  But as JFK said, "sometimes party loyalty demands too much."  Honest, intelligent Republicans booted out of office developer-coddling County Commissioner JEREMIAH RAY BLOCKER,  doing so in a closed Republican Primary.  They elected heroic Commissioner Krista Keating-Joseph. Three cheers for honest Republicans.  The Dull Republicans fear and loathe me.
