Letter: Governor should not let Stern stay on board

Letter: Governor should not let Stern stay on board

Editor: I encourage citizens to tell the governor not to reappoint Karen Stern to the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council. St. Johns County residents removed her from office last year for a reason. She was supported by developers and approved every project that came across her desk.

We have seen the results of her "out-of-control growth" policy. We don't have enough schools, jails, roads or other infrastructure to support the fast-increasing population. Additionally, I pay taxes on several properties without the benefit of ever having a child. So, I continue to pay for services I can't access (the school yards are locked like prisons. I can't run their track) while we build more homes and therefore more schools.

All someone has to do is drive U.S. 1 at State Road 312 or Interstate 95 at County Road 210 to see the results of this former commissioner's voting record. Please don't put such a person in the position to do more damage at our expense. It would a slap in the face of St. Johns County citizens who, in their righteous indignation, removed her to see her wielding more developer influence. If she wants this place to look Detroit I suggest she move there.
