As the articles by Messrs. Arminjean, McDaniel and Hankerson (below) establish:
1. St. Johns River Water Management District is an unjust steward of our environment.
2. Planning for the 450th/500th anniversaries of St. Augustine and Florida is deeply flawed and rather insensitive toward affected citizens, whether local residents of the historic district, African-Americans, indigenous native Americans and others who helped write the 11,000 years of history here.

The answer: let America's greatest federal agency put America's Best Idea Ever to work here in St. Augustine with a St. Augustine National HIstorical Park, National Seashore and National Scenic Coastal Parkway.

Next September, Ken Burns' documentary on the national park system -- 12 hours long -- will premiere. That will be plenty of food for thought on what we must do here to preserve, protect and defend our environmental and cultural heritage for future generations.
