I should "be ashamed of myself": S. GARY SNODGRASS, angry cognitive miser running for St. Augustine Beach City Commission (ex-nuclear powerplant czar)

St. Augustine Beach Commission candidate S. GARY SNODGRASS accosted me at last night’s St. Augustine Beach Civic Association forum and said “you should be ashamed of yourself” at least twice.

S. GARY SNODGRASS is the stuff-shirt, overdressed, overbearing, oleaginous former member of the Board of Directors and Human Resources head for a nuclear powerplant utility operation 17 nuclear powerplants (EXELON/(Commowealth Edison and Philadelpha Electric), who is running against Ed George for St. Augustine Beach City Commission.

Author of two books on management and a self-described “Thought Leader,” SNODGRASS disclaimed responsibility for hiring Wackenhut to provide nuclear security at the Peach Bottom plant in Pennsylvania, where 12-hour shifts led to security guards sleeping on the job in the ready room.

SNODGRASS also said I should be “ashamed of myself” for mentioning his family foundation.

I told him I’d like to know more about his family foundation and his stock/property interests.

SNODGRASS stalked off.

SNODGRASS has not answered E-mail questions (see below). As William F. Buckley, Jr. once said, why does baloney reject the grinder?

Since SNODGRASS read everything I wrote about him on this blog, I must assume his failure to answer questions was an oversight. His campaign E-mail account didn't work.

So I've reprinted my questions below so he won't miss it. We will print S. GARY SNODGRASS' answers upon receipt.

On your campaign website, you state, "Author of numerous articles appearing in Chicago Tribune, Human Resources Executive Magazine, Utility Business and others." I can't find any such articles by you on either the Chicago Tribune or Human Resources Executive Magazine website. Please send me your articles for review.
Thank you.

Subject: 14 Questions for S. Gary Snodgrass

I have a few questions for you:

1. Why did you and Exelon (and predecessor companies) hire Wackenhut to guard nuclear powerplants?

Dear Mr. Snodgrass:

2. Were you aware of Wackenhut’s history of violating whistleblower rights in Alaska, including the case of Chuck Hamel, whom Wackenhut and Alyeska paid $10 million over illegal surveillance and creating a phony environmental group to spy on whistleblowers?

3. Were you aware that Exelon’s plants had Wackenhut’s guards sleeping in the ready room?

4. Do you think that nuclear powerplant security guards should work twelve hour shifts, as they did at the Peach Bottom plants?

5. Why were guards working twelve-hour shifts at Exelon plants?

6. Did you take personal accountability for the sleeping guards?

7. If not, who did?

8. Did you leave Exelon because of the sleeping guard problem?

9. What are your thoughts about Exelon’s treatment of whistleblowers?

10. How did you “cut healthcare”?

11. How did you negotiate with unions?

12. Why did you cause allegedly misleading information to be distributed to employees, both union and management, that allegedly mislead them about their pensions?

13. What agreements, understandings and relationships do you have with developers and speculators?

14. Why are you running for Commissioner based on your business record?

Sincerely,

Ed Slavin
