ST. AUGUSTINE MAYOR JOSEPH LESTER BOLES, JR.'s campaign website contains several "endorsement" for his re-election, at least one of which is not intended to be such.

Headed Endorsements, the page states, "Here’s what active, civic-minded citizens of our community have to say about re-electing Joe Boles for Mayor" -- it includes this one: "I enjoy working with Mayor Boles for the betterment of life in our beloved city. He understands what it takes to get the job fully done."

Here is the correspondence with Father Willis, Pastor of Cathedral Basilica Parish confirming that neither he nor the Roman Catholic Church has endorsed Mayor BOLES:

This is not an endorsement, rather it is a statement of a working relationship between him and me. You will note that no where do I say, "Re-elect Mayor Boles," or "Elect Joe Boles for Mayor," nor do I say "I endorse Joe Boles."

My statement has been cleared by my superiors as being totally in line with what a Catholic minister in my position may say (or not say) involving a political election.

Fr. Willis is a good man.
Fr. Willis' trust -- and ours -- has been abused by a wily politician, JOSEPH LESTER BOLES, JR.
Mayor BOLES is in a tight re-election race against two candidates -- J. Kenneth Bryan and Nancy Shaver.
One friend has always said about the 1% St. Augustine, "They are willing to say and do anything."
Even misrepresent the statement of a Roman Catholic priest as a political endorsement!

MAYOR BOLES' website misrepresents Fr. Willis' feelings as an endorsement.

This is unethical on the part of Mayor BOLES.

In fact, if this were a political fact-checking organization instead of a blog, we would rate Mayor BOLES as "LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE." Urban Dictionary defines "Liar Liar Pants On Fire" as "a phrase that children like to scream at each other whenever they think the other is lying. They also like to scream it at adults who tell them stories about fairies. It is an overall stupid thing to say, since if your pants actually caught on fire when you lied, more politicians would be dead."

Yahoo Answers states that “Liar, liar, pants on fire. Hangin’ on a telephone wire!” is a paraphrased version of the 1810 poem “The Liar” by William Blake.
