In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Thoughtful column by John Valdes on overdevelopment
Here, READ JOHN VALDES' views in former Mayor George Gardner's newsletter. JOHN VALDES must fancy that he's still a viable candidate for Commission in 2016. He is now attempting to redeem himself (after sounding like a paid sophomoric sudoric steatopygous strumpet for demolition of Echo House and in support of controversial DAVID BARTON CORNEAL's abortion: converting the DOW MUSEUM OF HISTORIC HOMES into a $500/night hotel). Do we trust JOHN VALDES to be a Commissioner? I don't know. I want to engage him in dialogue and see what he thinks about ethics reforms and other issues first. He sometimes reminds me of what RFK said of Daniel Patrick Moynihan: "He knows all the facts and he's against all the solutions."

Bugger him. He's in with the Machine. Plan on increased development if Valdes runs and wins.
