Audio played by WFSU's weekly Capital Report program July 16, 2021 included local bigot DOUG RUSSO, loudmouth white supremacist, giving the "invocation" July 10, 2021 at a rally calling for release of the insurrectionists held pending trial, accused of attacking the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, at the behest of then-President DONALD JOHN TRUMP.
An avid TRUMP supporter, an unhinged Obama hater, "Preacher" DOUG RUSSO has publicly defended slavery and called for attacking Gays, based on his reading of the Bible. In 2017, he abused the ears of listeners at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with his paen to slavery.
In 2005, 2012 and at other times since, his racist a and homophobic rants have raised eyebrows and drawn gavels and warnings at the City of St. Augustine.
When RUSSO responded to the December 10, 2012 adoption of a Fair Housing ordinance including "sexual orientation" as a protected class, RUSSO and his bullies verbally abused Commissioners as "reprobates," saying, "You're fired." Then Mayor Joseph Lester Boles, Jr. calmly replied, "Would someone kindly escort that idiot out of the room?"
- The insurrectionists are in federal custody, pursuant to orders from a federal judge, but their rally called for Governor DeSANTIS to free them. He has no jurisdiction.
- During their attack on the Capitol January 6, one insurrectionist told his social media followers he was entering the White House.
