MAGA Congressman Blasts Judge Blocking Trump Library: ‘You’re Not a King’
The proposed location for President Donald Trump’s presidential library is about as good as it gets in Miami real estate.
The 2.6 acre plot is situated in the heart of downtown Miami, just off iconic Biscayne Boulevard and a stone's throw from MacArthur Causeway that delivers sunbathers and revelers to Miami Beach. The land, currently used as a parking lot, was most recently assessed at $67 million but is likely worth many millions more as one of the few undeveloped parcels left downtown. It belonged to Miami-Dade College until the public school approved its transfer last month for use as the president's future library, in a meeting that lasted less than five minutes, according to the New York Times.
The school then gifted the plot to the state which deeded it to the foundation overseeing the Trump library, run by his son Eric, daughter Tiffany and her husband.
"I'm sure a lot of people would love to put condos [on the plot], it's a place where many tourists go, it's near the arenas, and the art centers, and a lot of a lot of good public areas. So, it's a great spot," Republican Representative Randy Fine, who represents Florida's 6th District, told Newsweek in a video interview Wednesday.
Last month, Eric Trump announced that the land had been officially acquired for his father's library, saying it "will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known."

But on Tuesday, a Florida judge temporarily blocked the transaction, siding with a lawsuit brought by historian and local activist Marvin Dunn who alleged that the board of trustees at Miami-Dade College violated the Florida Sunshine Act “by giving away land" for the library, and that the public should have been aware and involved.
"Never Trumperism runs deep. We've seen the judiciary use lawfare repeatedly to try to stop the president. This is just the latest example," Fine said. "But I think in the end, it will all be fine. State property is going to be given to the president to create a presidential library, which is effectively a unit of the National Archives."
Fine called Mavel Ruiz, the Florida circuit judge who blocked the transfer, "just another liberal judge who hates America." In her ruling, Ruiz said “the court does not believe that the notice was reasonable" and that her decision was not "rooted in politics." She instructed the board at Miami-Dade College to issue a new public notice and vote on the land transfer, giving the public enough time to weigh in. The board said it planned to appeal instead.
In a statement to Newsweek, a spokesperson for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called the judge's ruling "yet another example of an activist judge attempting to undermine President Trump and his legacy."
"Make no mistake, we will prevail. The Donald J. Trump Presidential Library will be housed in the Free State of Florida," the statement concluded.
"The framers told us what to do when judges got out of line," Fine said. "It's called impeach them. And I think that's something that we ought to be looking to do in many of these cases, revisiting whether these people deserve to be judges."
The MAGA congressman added: "You're not a king. The funny thing is the Democrats talk about no kings. Well, the only people I often see acting like kings are some of these judges."
