Editor: John Mica was elected as Florida's District 7 congressional representative. Commitment to serve the people of District 7 is the challenge of election. It is as though that promise is written in stone.
The people in the district require service without challenge or interference.
That representative has compromised the commitment to the people of District 7 when he accepted a more than $62,000 from 26 companies whose interests are making money from oil production.
Who must be served, the oil companies or the people of District 7? Let the people decide.
Which interests best serve the people?
Which action reflects the challenge of election?

Ponte Vedra
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
