City Must Protect Its City-Owned Marshlands With St. Augustine National Historical Park and National Seashore
St. Augustine City Commissioners earlier this year rightly rejected a massive new Fish Island Marina dock that would take publicly owned submerged lands (a beautiful marsh that is essential to our ecology. .
Why would anyone want to ruin our marshes? To help foreign investors make money from pleasure boat-owners. Sickening when you consider how long the marshes have been here and what there purpose is in replenishing life.
In Cape Cod, Nauset Marsh is a national treasure, protected as part of over 41,000 acres in Cape Cod National Seashore.
Let our envirohment and history be saved from plunderers.
In secret, behind locked gates, the former City Manager of our Nation's Oldest City dumped solid waste in our Old City Reservoir. He emitted raw sewage in our San Sebastian River. Citizens exposed environmental racism and pollution. Our new leaders now listen. We're transforming our City. This is advanced citizenship. Please continue to ask questions and make disclosures. Demand answers. Expect democracy. Help us achieve a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore.
