{Dear Mr. Fortson:]
Thank you. I alerted OSHA ab initio. We've already had one person die at a St. Johns County School falling from a roof due to negligent supervision and lack of proper fall protection. Let that be the last death in our schools, please. See article below from St. Augustine Record.

A 58-year-old St. Johns County school system employee fell to his death Friday at First Coast Technical Institute, according to a report from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
"William W. Pethel was pressure washing the roof of Building J at FCTI. At some point, he lost his footing and fell through the skylight and onto the floor of the two-story building," said Sgt. Chuck Mullis of the Sheriff's Office.
"Apparently, there were several witnesses to the event. They appeared to know the victim," he said.
The accident occurred around 1:50 p.m., according to the report.
Mullis said St. Johns County Fire Rescue was called to the scene and was beginning to transport Pethel to send him by helicopter to an area hospital when he died.
Pethel was a resident of St. Augustine.
St. Johns County School Board spokeswoman Margie Davidson said Friday evening Pethel had worked for the school system for several years, but she did not have additional details on the maintenance worker.

Good morning:
Are the roofers on the roof of R.B. Hunt Elementary wearing proper OSHA safety gear, including harnesses and tie-offs for fall protection? Driving by Friday and this morning, it appears that they were not. This is a potential life safety hazard.
The SJC School Board must be more sensitive -- a man was killed on the roof of a SJC school lacking fall protection. We expect all school operations, including contractors, to be safe.
Sincerely,
Ed Slavin
