St. Augustine Commission Seat 3

Q. What do you see as the most pressing problem facing the office you seek, and why are you the most qualified candidate to solve it ?

A. As we move into the new millennium, one of the greatest tasks facing our city is to protect and preserve our historic heritage while continuing to respond to the needs of an economically and socially viable city. We must work on a partnership with the businesses in the historic districts, surrounding business community and neighborhoods to encourage the expansion of existing businesses throughout the city.

We can expand our economic base without hurting one of our most valued treasures, since protecting our historic heritage helps to maintain a successful and thriving economic community.

We should and must include all of our neighborhoods in our vision for the future.

We must work closely with the county Economic Development Council to attract targeted clean industries. However, that development should not come at the expense of our taxpayers.

We must decide on the type of growth that fits into our vision for the city.

Using my extensive background in community and economic development, and my years of experience in working in the public and private sector as well as government relations, affords me the knowledge and skill to form a public/private partnership to accomplish these goals.

Q. What were the three most important reasons you decided to seek this office at this time?

A. I feel that my diverse experience and background prepares me to meet the challenges of this office.

1. To be a voice for those citizens who until this time felt that their concerns, issues and well-being have been given little or no merit.

2. Someone to listen and be a voice for those citizens and businesses in the northern, western and southern most parts of our great city.

3. The need for broader citizen representation.
