State's Attorney JEFFREY LEE ASHTON (D-Disney World), is as inept and pompous a Florida elected official as ever made a chair squeak.
With no budget, no time records for investigators and lawyers, no evidence law citations, no insight and no ethics, he appointed an inept "investigator." He never met with the O'Connell family. He essentially blocked and copied Sheriff DAVID BERNARD SHOAR's corrupt self-investigation, and raises ethics questions about why he falsely claimed in a press release that he was appointed to review new evidence.
That's not what Governor RICHARD LYNN SCOTT said in his Executive Order No. 14-270, brought about by some 180,000 petition signatures.
The appointment ordered him to investigate. ASHTON treated prior conflicted investigations' conclusions as if they were res judicata. They are not worthy of belief -- Sheriff SHOAR and his pal, State's Attorney RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA, both recused themselves. BRADLEY KING's inept investigation (buying the upside-down gun theory) is also lacking in any indicia of reliability.
JEFFREY LEE ASHTON has disgraced his office and violated his oath of office.
JEFF ASHTON must now be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Florida State Bar. His craven cowardly corrupt excuse for an "investigation" is not worthy of belief. His refusal to meet with the O'Connell family or impanel a Grand Jury are both badges of fraud.
