In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

ROYAL FIREWORKS MUSIC AT ST. JOHNS COUNTY COMMISSION
CHAIR PRISCILLA BENNETT, a/k/a "RACHAEL BENNETT" (R-Hutson Companies) SHOWS ANGER, ANIMUS; CALM COMMISSIONER WM. McCLURE MAKES MOTION TO OUST BENNETT -- NO COVERAGE IN LOCAL MEDIA. Wonder why?
My late KKK-busting mentor, Stetson Kennedy, that St. Johns County KKK members all became Republicans. St. Johns County is one of KKK's "last bastions," said County Commission Chair Ben Rich to Folio Weekly in 2008. The film "Mississippi Burning" had a memorable line, someting about rattlesnakes not attacking one another but sometimes "committing suicide."
FDR called Republicans and their wicked evil corporations "economic royalists."
JFK said "politics is a business of knives."
On Tuesday, August, 18th, two County Commissioners -- battling pachyderms battled in public but effectively in secret -- there was no coverage by St. Augustine Record or other local news media.
It started when the County Attorney said he was looking anew at Commission procedures in light of confusion/complaints from Tallahassee.
Hired knife-thrower developer shill -- St. Johns County Commission Chairman PRISCILLA BENNETT a/k/a "RACHAEL BENNETT" (R-Hutson Companies) -- attacked Commissioner William McClure and he returned the favor.
BENNETT claimed in Commissioner comments at the Board of County Commissioners on August 18, 2015, on that Florida House redistricting committee members were confused and offended by Commission William McClure's testimony before the Florida House of Representatives committee about redistricting, claiming his actions were unauthorized. Commissioner McClure presented his testimony and defended his actions.
BENNETT repeatedly interrupted McClure, rasping. Mr. McClure said he was authorized by the local Democrats and Republicans, as well as the Commission and the Florida Association of Counties (FACO).
Remaining calm in the face of official oppression, Commissioner McClure said his proposed map kept St. Johns County together and compiled with fewer cities and counties divided, and those mainly because they had more than 644,000 citizens. Mr. McClure's testimony was the only map that kept St. Johns County whole; now there are six under consideration, he said.

Commissioner William McClure reminded BENNETT about the civility rules. Commissioner McClure said he was data-driven and would no longer "sit here" and watch BENNETT "continue" to "manipulate" the County Attorney, County Administrator, and staff, denouncing her "shenanigans."
He said he might make Ted Cruz's Senate speech look like "a limerick in an Irish bar."
McClure stated as Chairman, BENNETT is "supposed to be unbiased," yet she continues yammering about a 3-2 vote on the proposed sales tax increase.
McClure noted that BENNETT had distributed information about a since-dismissed, headline-grabbing North Carolina case filed against him by a former personal/business partner, and had engaged in duplicity and backstabbing.
Commissioner JAY MORRIS (R-RPM International) appeared to walk out.
Commissioner McClure moved to appoint Jeb Smith as Chairman and Commissioner James Johns as Vice Chair.
"We will do it in November," BENNETT said. There was no second to the motion, which died.
Please, let someone independent run against BENNETT. She says she will retire, but don't believe it.
Let there be no more coronations. Let's raise the quality of debate.
Let there be at least a two or three party system in St. Johns County. Enough.
