IF CITY WANTS FEDERAL FUNDING, IT MUST CHANGE ITS WICKED WAYS

See below. I made a presentation to the City Commission last night about how to get money for Riberia Street, the Seawall and the City's 450th anniversary celebration.

No one disagreed.

Hizzoner, Mayor JOSEPH LEROY BOLES, JR., got a little testy with me. Wonder why?

Evidently, he thinks rudeness is a substitute for knowledge. It's not.

BOLES is constantly, crudely condescending to environmental, peace and good government activists.

Mayor BOLES has calmed down a bit, but he abuses his gavel and shows little self-control, wearing his emotions on his sleeves.

People are watching Mayor BOLES and wondering when he will support the St. Augustine National Historical Park, National Seashore and National Scenic Coastal Parkway.

BOLES' own mother (Maurine Boles) told me she supports the park.

After I reported it in a St. Augustine Record column (above), BOLES told reportedly her not to talk about public issues for fear I would quote her on this blog or in the Record. BOLES and fellow Commissioners had earlier named his mother to the City's history advisory panel.

She's obviously ignored his demands, just like the rest of us do when he says people should speak positively about the regime of City Manager WILLIAM B. HARRISS, the City Manager.

So, City of St. Augustine --- the ball is in your court. If you want federal funding, you've got to change your ways. Otherwise, expect another turndown on the CDBG application, and every effort to obtain economic stimulus money, for the reasons implicit in the ten points (below).
