Editor: Tuesday, our beloved country changed direction. The voters chose "the new guy," I believe, because he made the better case that he has the ability to chart a course for positive change. I believe that Barack Obama will assemble a unique team of exceptional people to man his administration and to detail and execute his vision for America. In the formation of his team, he will be bipartisan and make his selections based on merit, accomplishment and vision. I believe, as president, he will speak to us truthfully, openly and often. In his victory speech, he stipulated he'll make mistakes as he begins to move the country forward and he will. He will also, I believe, admit to his mistakes and correct them.
Here is a man who is intelligent, visionary, knowledgeable, pragmatic, articulate and unafraid of challenge. We will find ourselves looking forward on all fronts to meet and successfully overcome the challenges of the 21st century.
Worried about his "lack of experience?" We are about to be led by a brilliant self-made man, who came from modest beginnings to be a community organizer, president of the Harvard Law Review, a professor of constitutional law, a state senator, a U.S. senator and the CEO of the most incredibly well-organized and successful election campaign, perhaps, in the history of our country.
As Obama said in his speech Tuesday night -- it won't be easy and it's up to us. Let us challenge him to be what he has promised and challenge ourselves to become engaged in moving America forward, supporting him when we think he is right and speaking up when we think he is wrong.
