In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Congratulations, Susan Eastman!
Legendary Folio Weekly investigative reporter Susan Cooper Eastman, born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, has had a tremendous impact here in Florida. Susan just won the top investigative reporting prize for the national association of alternative newsweeklies.
We in St. Augustine are forever very grateful and appreciative for her courage and coverage the last ten years, including her August 2014 cover story on ex-Mayor JOE BOLES and ex-Mayor LEN WEEKS and their no-bid, below-market rate lease deal for 81 St. George Street (Florida Cracker Cafe) from the City of St. Augustine AND her cover story, "Murder he wrote" on investigator Clu Wright's efforts to investigate the September 2, 2010 shooting of Michelle O'Connell in the home of Sheriff's Deputy Jeremy Banks.
The prize was awarded for articles on the death of an incarcerated mentally ill man, Daniel Linsinberger, in Clay County, Florida.
Kudos to Susan Eastman!
