In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. November 5, 1999

It was 25 years ago today. On November 5, 1999, Brian and I moved to St. Augustine. To borrow a line from a Frank Sinatra song, St; Augustine is "my kind of town." I am plum tickled and proud of all of the people working to preserve our history and nature. It's empowering to meet people who feel the same way about this magical place, who regularly show up at government meetings to speak truth to power. Since 2005, we've achieved dozens of public interest victories here, exceeding expectations. It's our town, our county and our time. As LBJ said to Congress after Selma, "And we SHALL overcome!"
