Whither Journalistic Ethics? At the WrecKord & Historic City News hate website? Ha! Check out the text of the SPJ Code of Ethics and Compare!

I’ve reprinted below the full text of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics. Below that is the disclaimer by MICHAEL GOLD f/k/a “MICHAEL TOBIN” on his hate website, HISTORIC CITY NEWS, stating that he disclaims responsibility for accuracy and holds himself as above the law, claiming you can’t sue him if you read his trite tropes and extravagant falsehoods, exaggerations and Lashon hora.

Reading the text of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics, one wonders if GOLD, who is not a journalist, has a clue.

Reading the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics, one looks at the St. Augustine Record today, and fondly remembers twelve years ago, even seven years ago, when it was still covering the news instead of covering up for special interests (and attacking citizen activists and ignoring what we say in public meetings).

Reading the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics, we wish that the New York Times had purchased the St. Augustine Record and the Jacksonville Times-Union in 1982. The Times could have purchased the properties for $200 million. Then we’d have had real journalists and real journalism (as at the Times’ Gainesville Sun).

Instead we have mendacious MORRIS COMMUNICATIONS. Do its overt acts and sins of omission and commission comply with the Code? Or does MORRIS sometimes empower smug, self-righteous, somnolent right-wing hatchetmen, copycats, bureaucrats and reprinters of handouts and press releases.

What do you reckon?
