Re-elect Ms. JEANNE MOELLER mosquito control commissioner.

She kept all her promises, including vastly reducing organophosphates, using natural pesticides, and canceling the $1,800,000 no-bid luxury jet helicopter. AMCD Attorney GEOFFREY DOBSON and the AMCD board falsely claimed it was "sole source." They violated AMCD's January 9, 1992 purchasing policy. DOBSON and other lawyers would never answer the question as to whether it was a "policy" under Section 178 of the Restatement of COntrscts, 2d (Contract Violation of Public Policy). DOBSON admitted that if it were, then it would be "void or voidable."
The illegal contract was symbolic of corruption here in St. Johns County.
Defeating the helicopter was one of the greatest victories for the public interest in St. Johns County. JEANNE MOELLER made it possible.
The $1.8 million no-bid luxury jet helicopter, manufactured by TEXTRON's BELL HELICOPTER DIVISION, was incapable of killing a single skeeter, and was not "sole source."
Nine months of dogged efforts by Commissioners JEANNE MOELLER, JOHN SUNDEMAN, my late mentor ROBIN NADEAU, et al. resulted in running off three inept attorneys, canceling the helicopter contract and winning an $81,000 refund on the deposit. JEANNE MOELLER's courage and determination were unflinching -- she is unstoppable and will do the right thing.
The $1.8 million helicopter was one of the gravest examples of corruption in the history of St. Johns County.
JEANNE MOELLER has the "right stuff" to protect our tax money and public health. There is no substitute for wisdom, experience and courage under fire.
