Joe Cronk Resigns; No October HARB Meeting

I just had a good, cordial discussion with Joe Cronk, who called me shortly before 11 PM.
Mr. Cronk is resigning from HARB.
I thanked him for his service and asked for his support for the St. Augustine National Historical Park and National Seashore Act. www.staugustgreen.com
There will be no October meeting of the St. Augustine Historical Architectural Review Board, which had 18 items on the agenda. Mr. Cronk's resignation will take place before the meeting, and staff had already advised him that two of the five members would be absent.
Our dysfunctional HARB must be reformed or replaced, perhaps with a board of unbiased experts under auspices of the National Park Service as part of the St. Augustine National Historical Park and National Seashore.
HARB is broken, as proven by the DOW PUD, the illegal demolition of DON PEDRO FORNELLS HOUSE by HARB Chair LEN WEEKS (fined only $3600 for working without permits) and the demolition of CARPENTER'S HOUSE (by 2-1 HARB vote with two HARB members working for the demolition applicant), and the demolition of 2/3 of ECHO HOUSE.

I think we need a person who has no dog in the fight to be on the HARB. There must be at least one such person. Do you have to live in the city to be on this board.

Not required to live in City, if Commission makes finding you are "uniquely qualified." I'd like to see HARB function given federal funding and support as part of St. Augustine National Historical Park and National Seashore legislation. www.staugustgreen.com
