City Commissioners will pick a new HARB member on November 9.
The HARB meeting originally set for October 15th is rescheduled for Thursday, October 29th.
October 29th is the anniversary of the 1787 premiere of Mozart's opera, Don Giovanni, and of the 1929 stock market crash and of the first professional boxing win of Muhammed Ali (Cassius Clay) and of the first computer-to-computer link (1969), forerunner of the internet, and of the 1998 report of the South African Truth and Reconiilation Commission.
Let October 29th be the beginning of a new era for HARB, when decisions are made without corruption or favoritism.
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
