City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline's Letter re: Florida School for Deaf and Blind Eminent Domain Legislation, SB 1348, HB 1037

Dear Friends of the Historic City of St. Augustine,

While we, in the City government are doing everything in our power to fight the eminent domain bills, at every stop, in every committee, we desperately need the help of our citizens.

PRORITY ONE:
Can you please help our efforts to stop the bill in the Senate by writing your own short note directly to Senator Wise at wise.stephen.web@flsenate.gov to oppose the Senate 1348 eminent domain bill? Senator Wise is the sponsor of the bill and is the chairman of the first committee to hear the bill.

PRIORITY TWO:
And if you have time write Sen. Thrasher (who represents St. Augustine) directly to express your frustration over the process and our citizens were only allowed 30 seconds and cut off before they were allowed to finish their sentences. thrasher.john.web@flsenate.gov

What I mean by "directly" is an individually addressed note to Senator Wise (and another to Senator Thrasher if you have time). A long note is not necessary, a simple statement, signed by you, will get the massage across. That way (they) will know city residents are passionately opposed to SB 1348.

You could write something as short as this:

• Dear Senator Wise: I am opposed to SB 1348 that would grant FSDB unfettered powers of eminent domain with no accountability to state taxpayers or to the interests of the citizens St. Augustine. Please stop this bad bill! Sincerely yours, (your name and contact info)
If you could do those two small things, and ask your friends to do the same - spread the word - it would help our efforts aimed at stopping this travesty.

Sincerely,

Nancy Sikes-Kline
Commissioner
