Jacob F. Butcher, twice-unsuccessful Democratic candidate for Tennessee Governor, later incarcerated for criminal bank fraud, once hosted Jimmy Carter and entourage at "Whirlwind," Jake Butcher's lakeside mansion. Butcher introduced President Carter to Butcher's company pilot, his family friend, Allen L. Hicks, known as "Red Dog." President Jimmy Carter reportedly shook hands with Mr. Hicks and earnestly said, "How do you do, Mr. Dog?"
