Governor RONALD DION DeSANTIS has named former prosecutor BRADLEY E. KING to the Fifth District Court of Appeals. KING was most noted for his inept, maladroit chauvinistic mishandling of JEREMY BANKS' case re: the September 2, 2010 homicide of Ms. Michelle O'Connell.
In 2016, KING sought a seat on the Florida Supreme Court, but was rightly not recommended by the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission.
The Supreme Court JNC's chair asked probing questions about the O'Connell case. GrayRobinson partner Jason Unger did an excellent job. Ms. Patty O'Connell, Michelle's mom, spoke with him about the coverup before the JNC interviews, and Mr. Unger's questions exposed KING's insensitive to a victim of domestic violence and homicide.
I shall always remember the revealing November 2016 video from the Florida Channel, showing KING turning to a tab in a notebook and reading a self-serving statement about the coverup of the September 2, 2010 death of Ms. O'Connell. No empathy. No class.
Two ethical judges found probable cause that Ms. O'Connell was murdered by JEREMY BANKS.
Kudos to retired County Court Judge Charles Tinlin and U.S. District Court Judge Brian J. Davis for doing their job.
No thanks to BRADLEY KING for his squalid coverup.
DeSANTIS refused to take action to remove Sheriff DAVID SHOAR, never acknowledging correspondence from me about his coverup of the Michelle O'Connll homicide.
Now DeSANTIS has elevated KING to the Fifth District Court of Appeals.
Bad choice of a bad man.
Watch the PBS Frontline episode here, with video of the rebarbative robotic now-Judge KING, stating inter alia:
There was not sufficient evidence a crime had been committed.
