God forgive HENRY DEAN and all five (5) Republican Commissioners for voting in ALAIMO, after they brought in former County Attorney PATRICK FRANCIS McCORMACK to lead two flag salutes, while patronizingly telling Commissioners that even though ALAIMO was not elected, he had "equal dignity and equal status" to Commissioner Krista Keating-Joseph, who ordinarily would have been elevated to be Vice Chair pursuant to the custom, usage, practice and procedure of County Commission, where the "ladder" system has been respected for some ten (10) years.
ALAIMO is yet another Dull Republican yes-man. He is a homophobe, a transphobic bigot and unqualified partisan.
Governor RONALD DION DeSANTIS's second appointee as St. Johns County Commissioner, ROY ALAIMO, JR., a former DeSANTIS Congressional staffer, got Commissioners to agree September 19, 2023 to "tax incentives" for "affordable housing," directing staff in vague terms to come up with legislative language.
When I asked for details, bumbling bumptious ALAIMO, was inarticulate.

Political tourist ROY ALAIMO, Jr. does not live in District 3, his constituents say, a fact that ALAIMO did not deny at the September 19, 2023 County Commission meeting.
But Governor RONALD DION DeSANTIS appointed ALAIMO anyway.
ROY ALAIMO, JR. is the former St. Johns County Republican Executive Committee Chair, whom DeSANTIS's office said was a business owner, referring to a newly created business, "ALAIMO STRATEGIES, LLC." ALAIMO never answered my inquiries about his "business."
ROY ALAIMO's SJC REC fundraising letters called for extirpating all Democrats from boards and commissions, while supporting Commission Chair JEREMIAH RAY BLOCKER's blocking a routine Gay Pride Proclamation, similar to those passed annually by the twin cities of St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach.
ALAIMO is all hat and no cattle," as they say in Texas.
Like DeSANTIS, ROY ALAIMO is all about hate, with nothing to contribute on policy,
As a Planning and Zoning Agency member, ROY ALAIMO, JR,. was a willing accomplice to overdevelopment. He was a developer doormat then, and now. He even chirps approval in approving development applications by lauding "capitalism," while rubber-stamping developments without adequate hearings and procedures.
Will ROY ALAIMO, JR. file to run for County Commission next year?
If so, in which District?
If he files to run in District 3, will he move to District 3?
Or will he run in District 5, the District that is currently represented by two-term Commissioner I. Henry Dean, an environmental and water law expert, who worked for five Governors and ran two Water Management Districts?
Or will unqualified developer tool ROY ALAIMO, JR. run for the Congressional seat currently encumbered by John Henry Rutherford, another election denier?

They don't believe in affordable housing because in their minds it's government intervention in a market which housing is... and they don't believe that it's government's job to help people achieve greater economic mobility unless those people are already economically mobile. They don't believe in using political power to increase wages, doesn't matter if the median housing price was a million dollars and you've got people making $10 an hour all over the county.. they don't care. That's what people don't understand. Their political ideology is, "It's not our problem" and "some people were born to lose while others gain." Mind you the more people pay through the nose for housing, the more money there is to be made for people who already have money. So you see that everything Republicans do aims keeps the classes as they are.
