To St. Augustine City Commissioners: "You have the right to remain silent, but we wish you wouldn't!" (re: Ed Slavin, January 11, 2026 letter)

When the late David Brian Wallace and I once lived on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., I had in my tiny abode an antique telephone answering mess  (a gift from mentor and ex-boss, United States. Department of Labor Chief Administrative Law Judge, Nahum Litt, Chief ALJ from 1979-1995).

Let me quote my antique answering machine's recorded message, in responding to the stunning silence of all five (5) St. Augustine City Commissioners in the face of pending requests for investigation about alleged animal cruelty involving some twenty-two (22) infected horses owned by a certain influential busines in St. Augustine, Florida (Country Carriages, Inc.):

"YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT, BUT WE WISH YOU WOULDN'T!"
