Austin’s city manager fired over botched winter storm response (Texas Tribune)

Imagine, local elected officials exercising their prerogatives and voting to fire an incompetent, instead of worshipping at his feet, as here in St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and St. Johns County, where local elected officials perform public acts of worship directed toward maladroit mismanagers!

St. Johns County's Republican County Commissioners fired County Administrator MICHAEL DAVID WANCHICK by 5-0 vote on November 19, 2019.

No national search.  No applications.  No women or Blacks or Hispanics considered. No background investigation.  No discussion of his being named an unindicted co-conspirator in a 2019 federal court bribery case in Chicago, alleging he took $8000 in campaign contributions "intended as a bribe," from DONALD DONAGHER, JR. and PENN CREDIT CORP., government contractors with the St. Johns County Clerk of Courts.

We are still stuck with the same County Administrator, nearly four years later.

HUNTER SINCLAIR CONRAD is unqualified, incompetent, uncouth, incompetent and beloved of wealthy Dull Republicans like developer-Senator TRAVIS JAMES HUTSON and his pal, disgraced ex-Sheriff DAVID SHOAR, who legally changed his name from "HOAR" in 1994.

If only we had functioning newspapers and a functioning government, like Austin, Texas.

Austin’s city manager fired over botched winter storm response

Spencer Cronk, who headed the city since 2018, fell out of favor with council members after communication failures that mirrored problems from the 2021 winter storm.

Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk sits in a special called city council meeting at Austin City Hall on Feb. 15, 2023.
