A local building contractor, 3rd District St. Johns County Commission candidate William Hugo Freeman, a Republican, filed to run on January 23, 2023 and then withdrew from the race on December 28, 2023. Mr. Freeman was endorsed last year by anti-overdevelopment community organizer and former Madison Avenue ad agency partner/copywriter Nicole Crosby and Commissioner Krista Keating-Joseph, both Republicans. His withdrawal letter was received December 28, 2023 by the Supervisor of Elections.
