Beware False Dichotomies -- Put the Adult Entertainment Zone Behind SAPD HQ, At Sebastian Inland Harbor: Regulated, Away From Homes, Entry Corridors!

Large organizations have an easy way of herding and controlling people -- the false dichotomy. St. Augustinians are being told there is a forced choice between adult entertainment zones and proliferating porno everywhere. Who says?

St. Augustinians are being told there is a forced choice between adult entertainment everywhere, or in one zone at the north end of our city, where Mr. Johnny Tai would like to sell one of his failing Fusion restaurants for $1.8 million.

Public debate is manipulated and controlled.

There are other options< including the one that citizens applauded, but which the St. Augustine Commission would not discuss (and the Record has not yet covered).

The solution is to put the adult entertainment zone in Sebastian Inland Harbor, behind the St. Augustine Police HQ. It would be out of sight, not on an entry corridor, and easily patrolled, while convenient for the swells, toffs, "upscale" and "high value visitors" that controversial real estate speculator-developer-pawn Commissioner ERROL JONES, landraping treekilling lawyer GEORGE McCLURE and others say they want to attract to our community with a new hotel.

Put the adult entertainment zone behind the SAPD HQ. What could be fairer? Adult entertainment businesses would be assured of regulatory compliance and neighbhorhood property values would be preserved.

The only problem is that controversial St. Augustine Mayor JOSEPH LEROY BOLES, JR. rejected the idea out of hand because concerned citizens (including me) suggested it, and he actually suggested that the owner of the Sebastian Winery might not like it, and that he wished all ideas were so simple. Speaking of simple, not one of the proposed adult entertainment zones is along Anastasia Blvd, missing the homes of our two lawyer-commissioners, JOSEPH LEROY BOLES, JR. and ex-Vice Mayor SUSAN BURK. Coincidence?

To the devil with conniving, Commissioners' prejudices, conflicts of interest and other emotional problems. They don't do their homework. They don't listen to the citizenry. They only listen to real estate speculators, many from foreign countries.
Gordon Gekko said in the movie "Wall Street" that "money never sleeps.

Neither should we until we take back our Nation's Oldest (European-founded) City from the troglydytes who so badly misgovern it they put the entire contents of the old city dump in the Old City Reservoir, and seek to inflict adult entertainment zones in twelve (12) St. Augustine locations, from SR312 to West Augustine to North City. Enough of their dupery and flummery.

So, Commissioners, kindly put the adult entertainment zone by the SAPD HQ, thank you.
That way, we can regulate it and our millions of visitors won't have to see it.

Thank you.

What do y'all reckon?

With kindest regards, I am,
Sincerely yours,

Ed
