Ronald Reagan Said, "Politicians are a lot like diapers, they need to be changed frequently and for the same reasons."

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Richard Kelly, a former Florida Circuit Judge, takes cash bribe money from undercover FBI agent in ABSCAM, saying later he was investigating shady characters and so did not report the bribe because he "didn't want to blow [his] cover."

U.S. President George Herber Walker Bush says, "read my lips, no new taxes," soon thereafter breaking his promise.

St. Augustine City Commissioners DONALD CRICHLOW, ERROL JONES, GEORGE GARDNER (then-Mayor), SUSAN BURK and JOSEPH LEROY BOLES, JR. (now Mayor) in 2006 vote award for City Manager WILLIAM B. HARRISS in midst of criminal investigation regarding intentional illegal dumping, refusing to answer any questions since February 2006.

Anastasia Mosquito Control Commission of St. Johns County Chair BARBARA BOSANKO, member LINDA WAMPLER and attorney on July 10, 2007 as they interrogated citizens criticizing our goernment; criminalized First Amendment protected activity in questioning $1.8 million helicopter purchaser; allegedly make false police report to the St. Johns County SHeriff; and commit Sunshine violations that are videotaped and broadcast. AMCD member LINDA WAMPLER was against the helicopter before she supported it.
Will allegations of false police reports, false claims, civil rights violations and Sunshine violations be investigated by state and federal law enforcement without fear or favor? Will local St. Augustine and St. Johns County politicians be prosecuted? Or will their cases be "fixed," as befits a city and county with a reputation for corruption?
That depends on what happens next. As during the founding of our Republic and during the Civil War, a well-informed citizenry makes the difference. What do you reckon?
