Georgetown University Sold 272 Slaves in 1838

Excellent New York Times editorial here about my undergraduate alma mater, Georgetown University, and the 1838 sale of 272 slaves to Louisiana, which arguably kept the school afloat but betrayed everything Roman Catholics and Jesuits stand for -- what is to be done?

Scholarships for the descendants? A monument? How about a commitment to stop uncritical teaching and academic programs that have the force and effect of propagandizing for and coddling multinational corporations, which are our modern slavemasters?
