TALLAHASSEE — Former Lynn Haven City Attorney Adam Albritton faces up to 20 years in federal prison after he entered a guilty plea Friday to two of more than 60 charges he faced.

He also faces up to three years of probation and a $250,000 fine.

Albritton acknowledged in court papers released after a closed hearing that the U.S. Attorney's Office could prove at trial that he had committed the crimes of wire fraud and honest services fraud. 

"The defendant agrees that substantial evidence exists to support the charge," the plea agreement said.

It is not known what Albritton told investigators, but he was charged in the case alongside former Lynn Haven Mayor Margo Anderson, Phoenix Construction owner James Finch and former Lynn Haven City Commissioner Antonius Brown.

FBI agents also have raided the offices of GAC Contracting in Bay County, a company to which Albritton had strong business ties.

The wire fraud charge to which Albritton pleaded stems from his contracting with David White and his company, Erosion Control Specialist, to have $25,000 in debris removal and other work done at his home and the home of his girlfriend following Hurricane Michael. 

Documents state the illegal transaction took place when White deposited a check obtained by turning in a falsified invoice that stated his company had been doing debris removal work on public property when its crews actually had been at Albritton's home.mitted, court documents said, when Albritton schemed with David White and others to draft a supplemental agreement to a contract between ECS and Lynn Haven that gave the company the ability to bill the city for garbage pickup that was never performed.

In return for his illegal activity on behalf of ECS, the documents said Albritton was paid periodic cash kickbacks of $10,000 or $20,000. 

Albritton's sentencing has been scheduled for Dec. 10 in federal court in Tallahassee. That date is six days ahead of the scheduled sentencing of five others: Michael White, David White, Joshua Anderson, David Horton, and Shannon Rodriguez, who have pleaded guilty in the Lynn Haven corruption scandal.

Michael White is the former city manager of Lynn Haven.

A status conference will be held Oct. 26 to review the cases of Anderson, who like Albritton has been charged with more than 60 federal crimes, Finch and Barnes.
