What's wrong with this picture? It's the appearance of impropriety, Commissioner DONALD CRICHLOW

Commissioner Donald Crichlow plans to speak before the HARB and PZB in support of another building applicant.

It's wrong.

As Saint Matthew said in the New Testament (repeated in major U.S. Supreme Court decisions on conflict of interest), a "person cannot serve two masters." This is so particularly where economic self-interest is one of the two masters.

DONALD CRICHLOW can't decide if he's a public servant (City Commissioner) or practitioner in front of the two boards whose decisions are appealable to him.

DONALD CRICHLOW has in recent months started recusing himself, since I filed an ethics complaint.

But ex-Vice-Mayor DONALD CRICHLOW and MAYOR JOSEPH LEROY BOLES, JR. -- neustro estimado pavo alcalde del Cidudad de San Augustin -- don't get out of their chairs and take a walk when they recuse themselves.

They sit there like cows chewing their cud, influencing their colleagues.

That's more than an appearance of impropriety -- it is impropriety.

I've asked them (or anyone else recusing themselves) to get up and take a walk. I reckon the charisma bypass duo will sit there until the cows come home (or they're defeated for re-election).
