HCN: Support St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver to Promote Government Accountability

As former Legal Counsel for Constitutional Rights of the Government Accountability Project (1989-1993), I endorse this message:

Mayor Shaver only commissioner to support accountability

275-NOCHE-HORVATH-FREEMANHistoric City News attended the recent city commission candidate forum presented by the Neighborhood Council of St Augustine, Inc., and we are reminding readers how two incumbent commissioners, seeking re-election, responded at the time in a commission meeting to the mayor’s call for an audit of 450th Commemoration contracts.
Both Commissioner Leanna Freeman and Roxanne Horvath vehemently objected to looking back at the multi-million dollar black hole to see if the citizen taxpayers actually got what they paid for in the contracts of vendors which arguably are the only beneficiaries of the four-year spending spree.

Interestingly, neither Freeman nor Horvath would admit any decisions they have made in their years serving on the boards or commission that they might have made differently today. Such hubris.
