For several years, I have asked St. Johns County to obtain four Constitutional officers' tentative budgets by May 1 each year, to allow for more time for Commissioners to do their job. Former County Commissioners disdained this idea: one former Chair said he would decide their budgets. Enough. I wrote Commissioners today to request tentative budgets be disclosed by May 1 each hear, instead of June 1:
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

IT'S OUR MONEY: Improving and Reforming St. Johns County Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Process

Dear Chair Joseph, Vice Chair Murphy, Commissioners Taylor, Whitehurst and Arnold:
Would you please be so kind as to adopt a suitable SJC BoCC resolution in March, requiring that each year, our St. Johns County Sheriff, Clerk of Court and Comptroller, Tax Collector and Supervisor of Elections provide their tentative budgets by May 1? This will allow well-informed discussion, commencing with the County Administrator's May 2025 budget hearings.
Legal authority: Florida Statute 129.03(2) states:
(2) On or before June 1 of each year, the sheriff, the clerk of the circuit court and county comptroller, the tax collector subject to a resolution entered into pursuant to s. 145.022(1), and the supervisor of elections shall each submit to the board of county commissioners a tentative budget for their respective offices for the ensuing fiscal year. However, the board of county commissioners may, by resolution, require the tentative budgets to be submitted by May 1 of each year.
Thank you!
With kindest regards, I am,
Sincerely yours,
Ed Slavin

They need a computer in the building that's accessible to Ed Slavin only. Create a password for him. That way they don't have to spend so much time sending things...in this case for people to complain about.
Clean up the city of St. Augustine? What is there to clean up? What is this narrative to justify some witch hunt for ghosts in the Ancient City? Shame on the libel, slander, harassment, exaggerated claims, all this is uncivilized.
