Be "A Drum Major for Justice"

One local wag says “there’s more to being a commissioner than being a cheerleader for causes.” That wag wrote a wacky editorial endorsing the WILLIAM B. HARRISS machine's hand-picked candidates ERROL JONES (over Judith Seraphin) and NANCY SIKES-KLINE (over Jimmy Owens).

Once again, the Record has listened to HARRISS instead of the people, writing an uninformed editorial that sides with the political machine. No surprise here -- the Record did not endorse other reformers elected to office, including Anastasia Mosquito Control Commission of St. Johns County Chair Jeanne Moeller and St. Johns County Commmissioner Elect J. Kenneth Bryan.

"Cheerleader for causes?" How demeaning and insulting to the lady who organized the movement to stop the illegal dumped material from being brought back to Lincolnville, who also led the movement to stop the 48-foot tall, 2,000,000 cubic foot boat dock from being erected along Riberia Street, which would have blocked out the sun with walls more than twice as high as the Berlin Wall.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best back in 1968, “Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice…”

You will see controversial Republican St. Augustie City Commissioner ERROL JONES a/k/a ERRONEOUS JONES mumbling and saying nothing for four minutes. Then you will see JUDITH SERAPHIN speak the truth (without rebuttal by JONES) about JONES' taking junkets to Spain with a companion every year for six years, going to meetings intoxicated (as he did at the Lincolnville Neighborhood Association in June 2008), and making the motion to bring contaminated solid waste back to Lincolnville on November 13, 2008.

THe First Amendment, in its majesty, protects the St. Augustine's constitutional right to endorse anyone they like. I reckon they might have endorsed Richard Nixon, too. The First Amendment also protects my right to say that the St. Augustine Recod is dumb as a post when it endorses the status quo attack parrot of WILLIAM B. HARRISS, controversial Republican St. Augustine City Commissioner ERROL JONES a/k/a ERRONEOUS JONES and NANCY SIKES-KLINE (who actually said the illegal dumping was just "a mistake."
