Waiting on records in response to my May 18, 2026 Florida Open Records law request for documents on this fake news event, publicized by St. Johns Citizen, a parvenu publication that acts as if it were an inept, incurious, alien implant,  a lackadaisical louche lickspittle for press releases, evidently unencumbered by investigative reporting or public participation.  Quo vobis videtor?  (What do y'all reckon?)

  Hardwick sat next to the Commander in Chief at a White House dinner. 

  That’s a choice seat.

  St. Johns County Sheriff Robert Hardwick said he was “still trying to find the words” after attending a White House dinner where he sat beside President Donald Trump for more than an hour.

  Hardwick described the experience in a Facebook post following the event, which took place in the Rose Garden.

  Hardwick said it was an “honor” to be seated next to the president. (Facebook)

  “For 90 minutes, he sat next to me and enjoyed dinner and conversation while expressing his complete support for law enforcement,” Hardwick wrote.

  The sheriff called the invitation “an incredible honor” and said the opportunity reflected support of those in his personal and professional orbit.

  “This certainly would not be possible without the support of my family, community and professional partnerships, and the people of St. Johns County who have trusted in me to be their Sheriff,” he wrote.

  Hardwick also thanked Trump directly for what he described as the president’s continued backing of law enforcement officers across the country.

  “Thank you, President Trump, for your time and support of this noble profession,” Hardwick wrote. “It does not go unnoticed.”

  Hardwick shared several pictures from the event, including one with FBI Director Kash Patel.

  A Republican, Hardwick was first elected as St. Johns’ top cop in 2020 and coasted to re-election in 2024.

  He previously served in the military and later became St. Augustine Beach Chief of Police before assuming the countywide post.

  Hardwick drew national plaudits in 2025 after St. Johns County earned the distinction of being the only county in the country with at least 300,000 residents to not record a criminal homicide.
