DEFEATING ST. JOHNS COUNTY CORRUPTION: "How the good guys finally won -- Notes from an Impeachment Summer" (Jimmy Breslin, 1975)

The late Pulitzer Prize winning New York Daily News columnist Jimmy Breslin's "How the Good Guys Finally Won -- Notes from an Impeachment Summer (1975) documents how corrupt President RICHARD MILHOUS NIXON was booted from office.  Read it here: https://archive.org/details/howgoodguysfinal0000bres/page/n7/mode/2up

Jimmy Breslin interviewed Peter Rodino, Tip O'Neill and other House Democrats who helped expose our corrutpt President.  Honest conservative Republicans like Senator Barry Goldwater, the 1964 Presidential nominee, privately met with Nixon and told him that he would be impeached and removed from office.

Jimmy Breslin sharply summarized the Watergate summer by writing,"The night school graduates are saving the country."

Nixon resigned.

Thank God.

On September 15, 2026, We, the People defeated a corrupt 4400 acre zoning deal for mostly old growth forests sought by the partners of the corpulent ROGERS TOWERS corporate law firm, as counsel for the WINN-DIXIE DAVIS FAMILY.  ROGERS TOWERS is counsel for a veritable keiretsu of dozens of overbearing Big Business bullies, who in retainer or engagement letters agree to waive any conflicts of interest with other ROGERS TOWERS clients..

With the Robber Baron lobbyists, campaign contributions and chutzpah to change state laws for the worse, for their sole benefit, most folks thought the WINN-DIXIE DAVIS FAMILY would win.  I knew we'd defeat these sibilant snollygosters.

Thanks to St. Johns County Commissioners Krista Keating-Joseph, Ann Taylor and Clay Murphy, and for asking people to attend, to Commissioner-elect Martin Pyszymuka.

Yes, the good guys finally won.

ELLEN AVERY SMITH & THEODORE RONALD HAINLINE, JR.

Two ROGERS TOWERS hired guns laughing at something I said about their law firm in public comment at the September 15, 2026 meeting.  Some residents were shocked when Commission Chair Clay Murphy joined Krista Joseph and Ann Taylor in defeating their latest scheme.

The ghost of the late ROGERS TOWERS partner GEORGE MORRIS McCLURE must be laughing at them.
