Visible from the Lightner Museum and City Hall courtyard on November 30, 2014 was an ugly satellite dish. City Hall denizens have been loath to answer questions about it ever since.
It is ugly and mars a beautifully restored 1888 grand hotel that is our City Hall.
Who approved it? Why?
No documents exist, we are told.
Who put it there? Why?
Neither the City of St. Augustine nor its tenant, the Florida National Guard, will say.
You work for us, so tell us, please.
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
