JERRY THOMAS CAMERON, left, with County Administrator MICHAEL DAVID WANCHICK
Developer-funded St. Johns County Commission candidate JERRY CAMERON (who was a Republican before he ran for legislature as a Libertarian before he became a Republican again) never disclosed any gifts as Assistant County Administrator, 2008-2015, despite having been photographed receiving gifts from government contractors, including MOTOROLA, which got the contract for the $30 million, 800 Mhz radio system he insisted that the County had to purchase. Some of these gifts include a fancy replica of an 800 Mhz tower, complete with blinky-lights, received at CAMERON's retirement party.
Wonder why CAMERON never filed any gift disclosures with St. Johns County?
Thomas Jefferson said that "a public office is a public trust."
Within weeks of leaving office, CAMERON:
o Raised $50,000 (most from developers) to run for County Commission, click here; and
o Went to work for Flagler Hospital, a St. Johns County government contractor.
Does St. Johns County deserve higher standards of ethics?
Do we need a local Ethics Commission second to none?
Should former Police Chief of Fernandina Beach JERRY THOMAS CAMERON now disclose all gifts he received as a government employee during the campaign?
What would Patrick Henry say?
What do you reckon?

Dear Mr. Slavin:
I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your public records request. St. Johns County will determine if it has any records that are responsive to your request. If any such records are located, we will compile them and redact any exempt material prior to providing them to you. Should it be determined that the nature or volume of the public records requested requires the extensive use of information technology resources, or extensive clerical or supervisory assistance, or both, then we will first respond with an estimate of the additional charges for the actual costs incurred, and whether a deposit will be required. In such instance, the records will be compiled only after you approve the charges and the County receives any required deposit. Payment for the total or remaining costs can be made when the records are available. If the actual cost is less than your deposit, you will be refunded the balance.
Thank you,
Asha.
