2022 election: St. Augustine Mayor seat is being vacated! What would "The Great Mentioner" say today in St. A?

St. Augustine Mayor Tracy Wilson Upchurch will not seek re-election he announced at the end of a productive City Commission meeting on Monday, January 24, 2022. 

Good career move. 

There will now be a wide-open race for the two-year Mayor's seat on City Commission. 

The late Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times political columnist William Safire coined the phrase "the great mentioner" to describe what journalists do in mentioning potential candidates.

I think Melinda Rakoncay and Karen Zander are worthy of consideration for Mayor. 

There are currently two candidates for the soon-to-be-empty Mayor's seat (seat 4), according to the Supervisor of Elections office,
