St. Johns County Education Association President Ms. Michelle Dillon, on statewide Florida NPR program, stated August 4, 2023 that there are 285 vacancies for teacher positions in St. Johns County Schools. Wikipedia reports our County has 2475 teachers. Hence, that's about 11.5% of the jobs unfilled.
Wonder why? Lack of affordable housing, low pay, anti-union animus, and Governor RONALD DION DeSANTIS's Culture Wars are the likely causes, I reckon. What do you think?

High prices without wage increases equals people go somewhere else to teach where prices and wages more closely align. This county can afford it but these conservative pigs are slave drivers who hate government and taxes... feel entitled to cheap labor.
